Chris Ortego
Chris was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana and has been teaching firearm safety to friends and family for years but became a certified instructor in 2012 and has been teaching professionally every since. Chris isn't only an accomplished instructor but also is the producer for The Gunner's Vault web series (www.thegunnersvault.com) which showcases historical firearms and class III firearms.
Chris also works closely with some of Louisiana's legislators to help pass pro-gun legislation during the Louisiana legislative sessions.
Chris is an alumni Lafayette High and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a focus on Broadcast Communications and currently works full time for a local TV station as the Creative Services Director with several industry awards under his belt.
When he's not teaching or working at the TV station, he can usually be found helping out at Acadiana Gunworks and apprenticing as a gun smith.
Chris comes from a line of cajun story tellers and incorporates that same talent and skill in his classes. His teaching philosophy is that people learn better from a conversational setting and small classes as opposed to boring lectures and large classes.
